Having just flown from the Southwest to the North on a Delta flight right before Thanksgiving, here are ‘good to know’ tips as you prepare for your own air travel.
1. Security.
For some reason, even though we have a known passenger number, are regular Delta customers, and have a Delta credit card, we didn’t get a TSA pre-check. More surprising was that we weren’t required to take our laptops out of our bags. Shoes, however, needed to come off.
Be prepared to be selected–at random–for regular security screening. Be ready to remove your shoes and your electronics from their bags.
When you reach the checkpoint, the TSA agent will ask for your ID and boarding pass. If you wear a mask, they will ask you to pull it down to verify your identity.
2. My personal air travel health protocols.
Your phone is your friend. If at all possible, get the app for the airline you’re flying with. Check-in the day before and download your boarding pass. You can use the boarding pass on your phone for contactless check-in at security and while boarding.
On our flight, the stewards handed us one packet of antiseptic wipes. As always, we also brought several more to wipe down our seats, including the armrests, the table tray, and the screen.
As always, you do you when traveling.
Happy travels!
