3 Tips to Protect Your New Bike

by Paul Konrardy

Just got a new bike? Here are some tips to help protect it.

  1. Insure it. Check with your insurance agent regarding the right type of coverage you need.
  2. Register it. You can register it with your local police department, with the manufacturer or on the Project 529 site.

WHN TIP – Proof of Ownership: Register your bike – there’s a better chance you’ll get it back if it is recovered by the police. Usually, police will not give you back your bike unless they have proof that it belongs to you. In addition, it helps the police identify and locate the proper owner.

  1. Lock it. Get the proper bike locks to secure it on- or off-premises. Read The Gear You Need to Prevent Your Bike from Ever Being Stolen.
