    Knowing the details of your family’s health information can come in handy in the event of an emergency. Click on the link on the top right: “Download printable booklet: Family Health and Medical Record (PDF)”. Print out this 18-page pdf form and fill it in with all the necessary information. Remember to make several copies: keep one at work, at school, and a few at home. Print out extra copies of pages 7-12 if you have more than one child. Be sure to update the information regularly. The Texas Cooperative Extension is an educational organization provided by the U.S. government, the state government through Texas A&M University, and your county government.

The AMA is the nation’s largest physician group.

  • DocFinder - Administrators in Medicine
    An online physician directory, the AIM DocFinder is the only combined public online physician database that has its direct source of data from state government licensing boards and that also remains free of charge to the public. DocFinder contains the licensing background and disciplinary information of physicians and other health care practitioners.

    MedlinePlus brings together authoritative information from the National Library of Medicine, the National Institutes of Health (NIH), and other government agencies and health-related organizations. MedlinePlus also has extensive information about drugs, an illustrated medical encyclopedia, interactive patient tutorials, and latest health news.

    Similar to a large search engine, simply type in a condition or symptom like "headache" or "diabetes" and the Mammahealth search engine will search over ten health Web sites. Some of the Web sites searched include MayoClinic, Intelihealth, and WomensHealth.gov. Healthline was founded in 1999 as YourDoctor.com by James Norman, M.D., whose vision was to use the Internet to offer consumers the most accurate, relevant healthcare information available.

    The Physician's Desk Reference offers information on common disease, general health and wellness and drug information. Thomson Scientific & Healthcare provides integrated information solutions to researchers and librarians, physicians and pharmacists, and other professionals worldwide.

  • Web MD
    At this site you can learn about health conditions, check your symptoms and find a doctor or specialist nearest you. Web MD is a public portal designed to help consumers take an active role in managing their health by providing objective healthcare and lifestyle information. Web MD is owned and operated by the Emdeon Corporation, a company that provides business, practice and products for the healthcare industry.

  • WholeHealthMD
    The site has information to research symptoms and ailments, treatments and recipes. WholeHealthMD.com is American WholeHealth Networks' Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM) education Web site.
